Step by step the Spirit teaches me
to stop and see the mess:
beer cans, bags, and wrappers;
to stoop down or climb over the rails;
and to pick up what was discarded;
like washing the feet of Rayne Township,
knowing there will be more trash tomorrow.
Lesson one in loving the world.
