"Extravagant"

How many eons of time and tons of pressure,
and how much ancient life
were brought together
underground
so that one day
my eyes could take in
refracted rainbow stripes
waiting to be seen
as oil and water bend the light
from a lonely gas station puddle?
This world is extravagant.
