"Only Humans Forget"

Two crickets
have taken up residence
in my mailbox.
Sometimes I wonder
when I check the mail
if they think I am invading
their territory
since they have lived there
as long as they can remember.
But maybe only we humans forget:
we are all sojourners
seeking shelter from the rain.
