Somewhere I was taught
(weren't we all?)
that broken is bad,
and when a thing breaks,
the only recourse is
to buy a new one.
But the Creator has issued a minority report:
Sometimes the surest sign
of the power of life
is a broken shell,
or broken bread,
or body.
