"An Unexpected Guest"

Tonight
an unexpected guest
presented himself
at the church's front door.
We have learned
to welcome those
with six legs
or pink wings
or furry hide
as neighbors in creation.
But this one
even offered his body
as a cross-shaped reminder
that the stranger
at the door
bears Christ.
