"This Moment's Vigil"

In the instant before letting go
the whole world holds its breath.
Not the big, self-important World
of planes and cars
and business meetings;
but this tiny perfect sphere of rain,
about to fall to earth.
And in this moment's vigil,
I wait too,
as if for a seed to sprout,
and sigh.
