For the Wounded Manger God

Tonight we all took
paper tears
and wrote on the backs
the names of ones
whose memories weighed heavy
on our hearts:
David
Gloria
Jakelin
and then hung them
on a tree, asking
like a prayer,
for the wounded manger God
to carry these lives
and these sorrows

for us.
